Tamil Nadu is set to become a pioneer in the use of the pentavalent vaccine when it is launched in the state on December 17. The vaccine, which will provide protection from diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, Hepatitis B and hib (haemophilus influenza type b), will replace the DPT and Hep B vaccines that are part of routine immunization in India.
